What will a Pet Sitter do during visits
with my pets?

Visits usually consist of providing pets with fresh water, feeding, playtime, outdoor time, pet waste management and/or change cat litter and one on one attention.  Your pet sitter may offer house sitting services as well such as; turning lights on/off, open and close drapery, collect the mail, and
take in the trash can. 

Ark wants to be the next best thing to you being home.  We love animals and will do our best to care  for them physically and emotionally while you are away.

 

Are Pet Sitters available for daily services too?

Yes, pet sitters provide daily dog walking services/ mid day pet visits while you are at work.  They can also take your pet to veterinary and grooming appointments as well.

 

Do Pet Sitters come to my home or do they watch my pet in their home?


Most  pet sitters will come to your home to care for your pet.  Others may offer to board your dog at their home.  Ark offers boarding.  If you know that your dog will not do well in a commercial boarding situation and between pet visits than this may be an option for you.
 
.  How often should a Pet Sitter visit
my pets when I am gone?

It is recommend to have 2 visits per day for dogs.  Indoor dogs may need an extra mid-day visit.  While healthy cats need one daily visit.

 

How long will a Pet Sitter stay with my pets?

Most pet sitters in the Phoenix area range from 20 minutes to an hour. 


What kind of animals do Pet Sitters care for?
Pet sitters will care for most domestic pets, ask your pet sitter for specifics. 

 
Will the Pet Sitter require that my pets are updated on their vaccinations?

Yes!  Most of them do.  Ark requires that your pets have updated vaccinations.

 

What happens if my pet becomes ill while I am away, how will the pet sitter handle the situation?

When you agree to services with a pet sitter they will usually have you fill out a veterinary release form that details your veterinary information, and money you authorize to spend during your absence.

 

Do Pet Sitters have backup plans in case of a

personal emergency?

Most pet sitters do.  Ask you pet sitter  what their plan is in case an
emergency arises
.

Can Pet Sitters do overnight  stays at clients’ homes?

Some pet sitters do offer overnight stays.
Ark does not offer this service,
 but I know pet sitters that do!

 

What days of the week are Pet Sitters available?

Most pet sitters work 7 days a week.

 

If my trip is scheduled during a major holiday, will a Pet Sitter be available for my pets?

The majority of pet sitters work on major holidays understand.  Some may charge an
extra fee for those days.
  

 

What should I expect to pay for a Pet Sitter?

Rates vary from sitter to sitter but the average in the Phoenix area seems to be from $15.00 to $22.00 per visit.  You will most likely need to pay all pet sitting fees upfront or pay a non-refundable deposit
during your initial visit. 


I would like to have my neighbors teenager do part of the sitting in the morning and have the Pet Sitter come in the evening.  Can I do that?

Many  pet sitters will not share pet or home care responsibilities with someone some else  who will have access to your home while you are away please discuss this with your pet sitter. Ark would rather not

job share pet sitting tasks with individuals. 


How are my keys handled?

It is common for a pet sitter to offer to keep your keys in a secure place for future pet sitting engagements.

 

Is it important that a Pet Sitter be bonded and insured?
Yes,it protects you in case there is an incident that involves your pet/s or property.  Bonding is appropriate for businesses that have employees. 

 

What other things are important to look for in
a Pet Sitter?

References whether it be a letter, veterinarian, and a friend are important.  Look and see if a pet sitter belongs to a pet sitting organization such as “Pet Sitters International” or “National Association of Professional Pet Sitters.”  Upon joining these organizations they must agree to follow industry standards of professionalism.
